Valentine’s WelcomeHappy Valentine’s Day! I’m really late posting today! Ken left me an adorable stuffed puppy dog and a funny card on my desk this morning (well his intention was to do that, but I was already up and in the office when he got out of the shower — it’s the thought that counts

I spent yesterday evening moving my other blog from one host to another and making sure everything worked. It was kind of weird until the nameservers were all pointing to the new site, though. I had to be really careful about what I edited or wrote because if I was pointed to the old server, it would write to the database there rather than the new one, so the two sites would not be in sync. Everything seems to be working as planned today, though, so I’m ready to take down the old site.

I wouldn’t have moved except this new site has a package aimed at just bloggers and it was $70 per year cheaper to host there. I didn’t need all that space, bandwidth, etc the other host was offering, so elected to move and save the money. While that blog earns me some money, $70 takes a fair chunk of it.

Tomorrow is the dog show. I think Ken is pretty pumped for this show. He and I both think Tigger looks great and has a good shot at the points this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for us. I have Payne entered tomorrow. She will either do it or not as it all depends upon her competition. She’s been coming in behind a lovely puppy at the last several shows, so we’ll see what happens.

all you need is love

I managed to get the reports done this week that everyone wanted me to, so feel pretty good about taking the day off tomorrow. I went today and got shots in my knees for the arthritis, so maybe I won’t feel crippled by Sunday even! I wish Ken would go and get his knee looked at. Its bothering him more and more lately.

Well, I guess I need to get back to work and do some more productive stuff.

Love to all,

Margaret

Happy hump day. If you’re at all superstitious, today is not a good day for you. While not a Friday the 13th, it’s the next worst thing — a Wednesday the 13th! Watch out for white cats and don’t walk underneath trees. Something bad will happen.

Yes, I’m feeling a bit silly today. Don’t know why really, but I am. It’s dreary and raining so I shouldn’t be in such a mood.

Driving into work this morning, I noticed the car in front of me when they turned on their interior light to illuminate someone holding an ice bag to their forehead. It’s pretty bad to have a black eye at 5:30 am.

Do you have big plans for Valentine’s Day? I asked Ken last night and he said no that he was saving up for next month. We talked about last night’s dog show on t.v. I was really bummed out that the Chihuahua didn’t get more than a glance, but considering who the judge is, I wasn’t surprised. He was a really NICE Chihuahua, too!

Next year the Whippet National will be in Atlanta. Ken wants to plan to go to it — that surprised me a little as in the past he hasn’t been too keen on going, but I guess we will take a week’s vacation next year and go to it. Maybe this time I won’t overdo it.

I finished up taxes yesterday and got those sent off. Good riddance!

Well, that’s about it for me.

Have a great day — stay dry!

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning! You find me working from home this morning. I wanted to get an early start on my day, but found I left my VPN username and password at work, so I’m now waiting for Carlos to call me back with it. I’ve only used it twice, so can’t remember it. I’ve written it down now somewhere on the computer so I won’t forget it again.

Went by the Expo center last night to meet with the Expo people about where to have the clinics at. They’re putting us upstairs this year which would be OK except they took out the ramp, so now people will have to climb stairs with dogs/crates or whatever. I think I’ll probably be getting some complaints about that, but what can you do? They’ve completely redone the entire building and taken out a lot of the nooks and crannies we could have doctors stashed in. The eye doc needs a dark place and the heart doc needs a quiet place, so we have some specific needs that have to be addressed.  Always something!

Well, Carlos has called me back and I’m ready to do business now. I see Corey has sent a list of sites to set up and he wants calls opened for all of them, so that will take me some time to complete. I have a report to write and need to take the dogs out sometime soon.

Gotta run.

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We had some very nice weather, but I know that wasn’t the case everywhere.

Ken worked all weekend despite feeling pretty rocky. He has a cold that seems pretty severe. Hopefully he’ll start getting over it now since he’s had it for nearly a week now.

I worked on the Health Clinic appointments this weekend. I still have some people trying to register for it and I’ll take them until Wednesday, then they will have to come Saturday and take whatever is left.  As usual, the eye clinic is filling up faster than the others, but Dr. Ward manages to squeeze them all in somehow or other. He’s such a nice man! Anyway, I finished up with what I had through 8:00 pm last night around 10:00 pm. I saw where I had two more this morning and have flagged them to respond to by tonight at 6:00.

I’ve been working on uploading PM data all morning this morning. We got way behind in it last year when we changed systems, so now I have to play catch up. It’s giving me an opportunity to tweak some things and make the whole system better and that’s good. I’ve also been asked to create a report whereby users can search on a word to find calls containing that information. Since I’ve already created a report that does that albeit for a specific set of words only, it shouldn’t be too hard to duplicate that and let it be a user inputted set of words. Someone will complain about it though. I feel it in my bones.

I sold both the crested puppies over the weekend. The guy from work who originally wanted the female ended up taking the male and a lady called while they were there getting their puppy who was interested in the female. When Robert decided on the male, I called the lady back and she and her husband and one of her daughters came and got the last puppy. It’s so quiet in my house now! As cute as they were, I’m glad to see them gone. Now I just have the two adults to place and they’re going to be harder.

The Greenville dog show is this weekend. I only entered Payne on Friday since I have to work the rest of the weekend — I just can’t concentrate on the work when I’m thinking about showing, too. Ken’s showing Tigger all 3 days — he usually doesn’t take off for these shows, but it’s big majors and there’s a tiny chance he could finish Tigger or get really close to finishing Tigger this weekend.  I’ve got fingers and toes crossed for them!

Well, I guess I’ve used up my alloted break time, so need to get back to the grind.

Ya’ll have a great day now, ya’hear?

Love to all,

Margaret

TGIF! Hope you’re having a great day today!

Nothing major on the horizon for the weekend for me. Ken’s working all weekend, so we can all feel sorry for him. I’ll be working on the usual stuff and trying to get the appointments for the Health Clinic all sorted out and sent to people. I worked on that some last night, but still have a long ways to go. I wish I were more proficient in Access.

I’ve sold one of the last two puppies. She will go to the vet’s in the morning for a shot and checkup, then her new family is coming to get her. That will leave one puppy and two adults to find homes for. They are cute dogs, but I will be glad when I’m down by those 3.

Ken woke up this morning with what sounds like a bad cold. I’m a little concerned over how quickly it came on as he didn’t seem to have any symptoms last night. I’ve managed to dodge all the stuff that’s gone around the office this winter (knock on wood) and I think it’s due in part at least to my drinking a lot of green tea and water and not very many soft drinks. I still have my 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning, but that’s all I drink of coffee. I’m hoping I don’t catch Ken’s cold.

Well, I have a lot to do this morning, so I had best get on with it.

Love to all,

Margaret

Gosh! Did I miss yesterday?? Well, it was a busy one. I had to make two videos for two different blogging assignments and was up too late last night completing the second one.

Evening skyWhile I was cleaning kennels last night, I noticed the evening sky had some cool cloud formations and the sunset had tinted them this funky shade of vermillion. Thought I would share a couple of those photos with you.  In this first one, you can see two layers of clouds. The lower ones are dark and hanging down like dirty, shredded cotton while the high ones are reflecting the sun’s light. What is it they say about red skies? These aren’t exactly red, but I’m sure the same principle applies.

Ken hasn’t seen these yet. Between trying to finalize taxes and getting those two videos reviewed and loaded, I didn’t have a chance to show them to him. He’ll read the blog later, though and see them.

Evening CloudsIn the second one, I was intrigued by the streak of vermillion that almost looks like a lightning bolt, but is just clouds. As far as I know, we didn’t get any rain last night, but I haven’t been outside yet. We were supposed to have a cold front roll in and these clouds are no doubt the precursor to that front. I don’t know why I think these are really cool, but I do. They aren’t particuarly dramatic, just a neat contrast of colors and textures.

Well, I need to get ready for work and leave. Actually, I should have done that 30 minutes ago and I still have to put dogs out, too. Guess I’m going to be late… oh well, another lunch down the drain.

Love to all,

Margaret

Am all out of whack posting at night instead of in the morning. Don’t know what my problem is.

Took a quick video of a mockingbird messing with Ken’s truck that I thought I would share with you.

It was crazy at work today — got in to find all my backup jobs had failed as the server they get saved to had crashed. Spent the morning moving them to another server and making sure I got good backups there before I could breathe a sigh of relief.  Then I had sites to set up and a revenue report to produce for subcontracting and between those two things, the rest of my day was shot. I’m planning to work from home tomorrow as I have a SQL meeting tomorrow night. The topic of the meeting sounds like it will be over my head, but some of the others have too and I’ve managed to glean some information out of them despite feeling lost for the most part.

Worked on taxes Sunday. Downloaded Tax Act software and have to say I’m not impressed with it’s ease of use despite the review of it that said it was the better of the big 3.  I hope to finish those up this week.

Well, guess that’s about all from our house.

Love to all,

Margaret

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing well — watching the Super Bowl and rooting for your favorite team (Giants, right??)

We got up rather late this morning, ran into Anderson to get breakfast and pick up some items we needed for Ken to attend to some honey-do’s around here, then came home and commenced working on our respective tasks.

I downloaded tax software and started that task — I don’t particuarly care for this program — it might be “the best rated”, but it’s not very user friendly IMO. Next year I will definitely go back to our old standby — Turbo Tax.

We got some footage for the golf commercial shot and I’ll be working on that this evening. I have to do two commercials and I want one of them to be funny. This one will be semi-serious although the 3rd time Ken dribbled one off the tee, I will admit to losing it. He did make up for it by hitting some awesome shots, but he needs a lot of practice as he wasn’t consistent at all! We got some kid to try the club out and he whacked the sh*t out of the ball — it went 240+ yards easily!

Well, I guess this isn’t getting that done, so will close for now.

See you tomorrow!

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning everyone! Got up at 3:45 am with Ken this morning, cleaned the puppy pen, started some laundry, swept the floors, then went back to bed until 8:00 am.  Got up then because dogs were fussing to go out, so took all of them out and started the dishwasher, moved clothes over to the dryer, then started mopping floors. When I got done with that, I caught up the Health Clinic database since that’s in two weeks. Now I need to fold the dry clothes and start cleaning bird cages.

At some point today, I need to run into Greenwood to pay Judy for taking care of the dogs last weekend. I hate to stop housecleaning when I’m on a roll, though as I tend to not get back on it when I get back home. Oh well, that’s important for good will as we want her to take care of them while we’re in Las Vegas in March.

I saw a red truck go down the driveway a little bit ago. Guess that means Charlotte is back from Florida. I wonder how long it will take her to call or come down here. The last phone conversation we had wasn’t too friendly as I was still hurt and angry over what she did with her birds. Despite having promised me that the Eclectus we rescued from those horrible conditions it was living in would come to me if she decided she didn’t want to keep her and also promising me that the cockatiel I gave her would come back to me if she decided she didn’t want to keep it, she gave all the birds away before telling me she was going to do that. When she told me I was very hurt that she didn’t at least let me know BEFORE she did it so I could say OK or no, I’ll take the two I made you promise to give me. While I don’t doubt that the birds are fine and in a good home, it’s the betrayal and the broken promise that is what is bothering me. Would you feel differently?

Ken and I got new voter registration cards in the mail yesterday. I hope this means we are FINALLY on the books!

Well, they dryer just buzzed a summons, so I had best run along.

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning on this rainy Friday! Happy Groundhog’s Day! I can never remember if it’s see his shadow 6 more weeks or don’t see his shadow 6 more weeks, but I’m sure he won’t see his shadow this morning and I’m equally sure we’ll have 6 more weeks of winter weather 😉  so I guess it doesn’t really matter which it is, does it?

When I got home last night, I found these two huge boxes on my back porch. It was the bed from bed-in-a-box that Ken and I won for our commercial.  Needless to say, we took the old bed down and put the new bed up last night. I would love to say it was the best night’s sleep I’ve ever had, but can’t. After all the pushing and pulling etc., both Ken and I were too sore when we got up this morning to do more than groan. We’ll give it some time before we write it off totally, but at least we aren’t out any money for the bed 🙂

Are you all following the hype over this year’s Super Bowl? Are you convinced the Patriots are going to win it like everyone else seems to think?  I sorta want to pull for the underdogs in this one. Guess that’s just my nature.

Guess I should get on to work.

Have a great day and stay warm and dry!

Love to all,

Margaret
