Last day of the month – time is flying!

December birthdays:

  • Eddie 12/1
  • Frances 12/4
  • Janet 12/19
  • Randy 12/23
  • Christ 12/25

Don’t forget to wish them all a Happy Birthday! If I’ve forgotten anyone, please let me know. If I got anyone’s date wrong, please forgive me — you know how it is when you have Oldtimer’s disease 🙂

Well, Ken perservered and managed to get the dealership to see it his way and sell him the truck on mostly his terms. He picks it up today, so we’ll have it take it’s maiden “voyage” next weekend as we take the camper to Winston-Salem and the last dog show of the year.

We go tomorrow to see Bebe perform in the Nutcracker. I’m excited for her as this will be her first public performance as a ballerina. I promise pictures 🙂

Well, I guess I need to get on with earning that paycheck they put in the bank this morning 😛

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning! I hope you are all well.

Eddie and I have been having a conversation about Chrystalyn. We’re trying to figure out ways to motivate Chrystalyn to organize her school assignments better so that she gets them turned in on time. While she has a planner and writes her tests down in it and she and Eddie have talked about where the best place to add assignments and their due dates in it are, we’re concerned that we may not be doing quite enough.

My theory is that this trend in not turning in assignments is more a bid for personal attention than it is any real deficiency in remembering they are due, and if that’s right, then going over a day planner with her once isn’t going to do the trick in the long run.

Any suggestions from my readers is gratefully appreciated.

Well, my day yesterday continued in it’s depressing fashion. I ended the day with a back ache so bad I took a pain pill with dinner and went to bed after eating. Poor Ken had to bring dogs in and do all the evening chores by himself. It’s not hurting so far this morning, but I’m being very careful of it as I have this feeling that it will flare back up again with very little provocation. I don’t really know what set it off yesterday in the first place, just knew that by the time I got to work it was pretty painful and by day’s end it was nearly unbearable.

I purchased the ingredients for raspberry bars Tuesday. I was going to make them right away, but there was an “invitation” passed around yesterday at work inviting us to a Christmas dinner here in the office with a office “bake off” contest being part of the celebrations. I think I’ll hold off and enter them in that.

There’s also a recipe in there for lemon bars and I may make them instead. I really don’t see Ken liking either one as he’s not a fan of raspberries at all and lemons don’t rank up there either. Of course, he’s not supposed to be eating any sweets period, but I should make something for him to take to work and share. He brings home so much yummy stuff.

His quest for the truck didn’t go as smoothly as he had envisioned yesterday. He had pulled his credit score from the internet yesterday morning before he left for work, but when the dealership pulled it to submit to finance (after all the wrangling Ken did on price), it came back 34 points lower than what he got online. He’s written to Equifax asking for an explanation of this discrepancy, so we’ll see what they say. It will more than likely be doublespeak, but at least he will have lodged his protest. So, for now, he’s still in the old truck and the other is on hold.

Well, that’s all about us for now.

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning! What a morning!

Last night we brought all the dogs in as it was going to be in the 30’s and we don’t like to leave them out when it’s that cold. So, that means I have to put them back out in the morning before leaving for work or if it’s going to be cold all day, let them out to potty and bring them back in all before going to work. Usually, it’s no big deal as they know the routine and handle it with efficiency and dispatch.

This morning had Loki at the wheel, though. (If you don’t know or remember, Loki is the god of mischief). I took cresteds out without incident and then let Oscar and Nell out while I carried Tigger to his pen (I already knew not to let him loose unless I wanted to spend the next 15 minutes watching him run zoomies around the yard). I watched Nell and Oscar find good places to potty as I carried Tigger to his pen, then Nell ran into Delilah’s run to check for leftover food. I called her out of there and as she emerged, Oscar zoomed by and Nell gave chase. They ran around to the front yard and I started calling. And calling. And calling. Nell came back shortly, but Oscar was nowhere to be found. I guess they scared up a deer or bunny and he gave chase. I spent the next 45 minutes calling and walking up and down the driveway and up and down the road looking for him. I finally heard my group give voice, so figured he was back and sure enough he was. Still zooming all through the yard like he had energy to spare. I finally got him contained in his run and was able to leave for work, but by then I was already an hour late. Anybody who knows me knows how I HATE being late!

Oh well…

I called Ken to let him know what had happened and gave him the heads up that I would probably be late getting home tonight. He’s on a mission this afternoon to see about trading in his truck for a Dodge Ram 2500 diesel, so reminded me he has a 4:00 appointment. Well, if he wasn’t taking 2 hours off from work, he wouldn’t be getting home until 7:00 anyway, so DUH.

I may call Charlotte in a bit to get her to run by the house this afternoon to let Payne and Cameo out to potty just to make sure they don’t have to hold it any longer than necessary. They’re the only two that are crated and that I worry about spending long hours “holding it”.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch (I mean work), I have an issue of PO’s that don’t update when received. Oh the joy! 😥 NOT

So, that means I’ve got to run.

Love to all,

Margaret

Was I matched correctly?

I answered a bunch of questions (ok it  was only 20) about myself at this website that created a daemon avatar that fits my personality. I have a few days to “finalize” it and you get to see if you agree with my self assessment or not. It’s all in fun and whatever you answer will be fine.

So click the link and answer the questions yourself and let me know what you find out.

Good morning! Sorry I’m so late this morning! It’s been a busy one as I’m working from home and that always means multi-tasking in a really big way.

So far I’ve written and tested a report, corrected a po that was hung up in the system, answered multiple e-mails, answered multiple phone calls, washed 2 loads of clothes (2 to go) and dried and put away one, unloaded and re-loaded the dishwasher along with letting various animals in and/or out. Oh — and I’m writing a blog post here, plus wrote 3 others on other blogs and did my daily NaBloPoMo post. I will admit that two posts were variations of the same theme, but were both original content, so are therefore two distinct posts.

Ken’s called me twice this morning. He asked me last night if I would take his truck by some dealership to have them look at it. He’s got trading fever again, but at least he’s trying to be smart about it. His current truck is a lease and he wants to lower his monthly payments, so he’s looking at either refinancing this truck or trading it in for another truck. Since his credit score has significantly improved over the last 2 years, he qualifies for a lower interest rate. I’m hoping the refinance will turn out to be the better deal as I have an aversion to car dealerships, but if it doesn’t work out that way, I’ll take his truck for him. It won’t be fun, but I’ll do it.

I also want to take some stuff up to Habitat to donate. It’s just gathering dust on the back porch and I can use the space for something else (more junk??)

Well, that’s what my day is looking like.

Hope your day goes well.

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and didn’t eat too much like I did.

My morning started out rather interestingly. I was heading down Hwy 76 when a man who was walking down the road waved me down. He asked to use my cell phone, but I ended up taking him to his house. Poor guy had been walking for some time trying to get help. His car had broken down and it’s a very rural stretch of road right there, so no houses to get help at. He was very worried about being late for work today as he had a presentation to give this morning. I hope the rest of his day goes better.

Of course that made me a few minutes late for work, but that’s OK. I’ll make the time up before the day is out more than likely. 🙂

We are getting much needed rain yesterday and today. Not gully washers, either, but a nice steady soaking rain which will go a long ways towards helping our dry land out. Doesn’t look like we’re going to have any freezing temperatures any time soon, either.

I’m really glad to read this morning, that the US Government is not alone in wasteful spending. I was so afraid that we had the most gullible politicians on earth. It’s such a relief to find out we don’t.

Well, that’s all I have to report today.

Love to all,

Margaret

Good afternoon everyone!

I WAS going to write this post this morning, but Ken wanted to go to breakfast after which we had to go to Sam’s club, and now after cleaning out the van, I can once more sit down to write a post.

As you know, we went to Ohio Friday to see Chris, Gina and the kids Ani and Wesley. We took them shopping, bought some clothes for the kids and a toy a piece, then we left to come back to SC. It was a long two days, but worth it. I made an album of the photos of Ani and Wesley and put them in one of my albums. You can find it HERE, but I’ll also add the link over in the side bar where I have other albums. I want to thank Colin for giving me the link to the software that produces those albums! I think it’s wonderful!

Maggie and ParkerWe also combined the trip with delivering Maggie to her new home. We met Michelle, Mark and their two children for the first time. What nice people they are! I KNOW Maggie will be well loved and cared for.

Here’s a picture Michelle sent me of Maggie with Parker. Parker was hoping Maggie would bond to him and be his buddy.

Next weekend is Bebe’s performance in the Nutcracker Suite which we are going to. I’m hoping I will get to take more photos for another album of Bebe’s cuteness.

Well, I guess I should get on with cleaning. There always seems to be something to clean around here.

Love to all,

Margaret

Happy birthday, Ma!  The phone is busy, so you’re either on the internet or talking to one of my sisters. 🙂

We’re leaving around 11:00 this morning, so thought I would jump on here quick and write a short post. We’ll travel as far as Lexington, KY today, meet up with Maggie’s new family, then tomorrow morning finish the drive into Ohio to see the kids and grandkids.  I’m taking my camera, so will have pictures to share when we get back.

I’m a little concerned over weather, but we’re not anticipating anything terrible. I wish the cold had held off a couple of more days as I worry about the animals outside, but the girls I have taking care of them assure me that they won’t let them freeze. Just call me worry wart.

Ken installed a Sirius radio in my car yesterday. He does love that service. I washed the van yesterday, too, so we’re all clean and shiney.

Well, I suppose I need to get back to getting ready to leave. He’s taken the other van to get the oil changed in it, so I have an hour or so of peace 😛

Love to all,

Margaret

Hazy

Hazy
Hazy’s the word for this morning
It’s hazy
Hazy because it’s so blue

I knew
Driving to work would be crazy
Cause someone
Was sure to hit somebody new

Worry
Why do I let myself worry
Wondrin
What in the world could I do

Hazy
Because of pollution and weather
It’s hazy this morning
I’m crazy for driving
In weather so hazy
You can’t see what’s in front of you
Can’t you just hear Patsy singin’ this  ❗😛

Hump day already and the last working day of the week for Ken and I both. We are definitely giving thanks for the short week.

Well, even though I didn’t want to, I entered Butterfly in Winston-Salem. I do so much want to finish her this year and that’s the last show for us, so it just made sense. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

I worked from home yesterday which gave me the ability to also get caught up on laundry. That means that going into this weekend, the hamper is empty. I’m sure though that by the time Sunday rolls around, it will be full again — it just has that inevitability about it. That’s reassuring on the one hand and depressing on the other. :\

Well, since this is the last day of the week, I suppose I had best get my tail in there and get dressed and on the road.

Ya’ll have a great day!

Love to all,

Margaret
