Hello everyone! Well, so far the dog show has gone like…well…a dog show. Butterfly was Winners Bitch on Thursday and 3rd out of 3 in her class today. Tigger was Reserve Winners Dog on Thursday and 2nd out of 2 in his class today. Today’s judge was one I thought would really like Butterfly — oh well — that’s the way of the game.

In today’s news, there was a story about a huge spider web in Texas at this park. It’s made by a species of spider that is usually very independent, but in this instance they have acted like a colony to the benefit of all members. They are long-jawed orb weavers and are about 1″ in diameter. They are related to what I’ve always called writing spiders, but which are actually Black and Yellow Argiope. This guy (or probably gal) has spun his webBlack and Yellow Argiope in my office window. I’ve had a lot of fun watching him/her catching bugs in its web and dispatching them with great alacrity. There’s another one on my back porch close to the light which is doing me a great service by keeping a lot of bugs out of the house.

Guess it’s time I was in bed. Good night all.Love,

Margaret

Well, Butterfly was winners bitch on Thursday and Tigger was reserve winners dog. Today they were last in their respective classes and this was a day I thought Butterfly would do well on. Just goes to show you never know…..

In the news today is a story about a huge community spiderweb in Texas. I was surprised to see a close up of one of the spiders as the park ranger who was being interviewed talked about them as if they were tiny little things. The photo on the web site showed this guy..

Good Morning!

Ken is in Raleigh enjoying his vacation. He’ll be there until Monday and while he’s supposed to also have Tuesday off, his boss is stressing out so much about him being out that Ken actually told him that he would come in to work Tuesday if he got back early enough Monday!

He went to the doctor Tuesday about his side still hurting. The doctor confirmed that he has a hernia — a huge one! However, the type and location of it is not one they evidently correct with surgery and the doctor advised Ken to lose weight to see if that helped the pain issue. He showed it to me Tuesday night and it’s in the center of his chest and looks like the alien trying to jump out of his stomach (if you saw that movie you’ll know what I’m talking about — I think that’s where I got up and left the theater). So, he wants to get back on a diet….we’ll see how long that lasts.

Eddie is coming to get the dogs this weekend. It will be good seeing him again, but I don’t think we’ll have a lot of time together as this sounds like a quick trip down and back home. I was glad they took the time to stop in to see Ma on their way to Louisiana to get the cats. I know she was happy to see Chrystalyn and Randy.

Chris and Gina talked about coming down next weekend, but I have not heard back from them that they are definitely coming.

Well, I guess you are all caught up with us now. Will let you know how the dog show goes 🙂

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning! Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was HOT. While we did get a tiny bit of rain which brought some relief from the 100º+ heat for a short time, but of course, once the storm system passed, the temps go back up and we have unbearable humidity on top of the heat.

Well, Michael Vick will plead guilty to dog fighting. What a scumbag! The maximum penalty is 5 years, but prosecutors think he’ll get 12-18 months. I think he should get 5 years for each dog he killed by drowning and/or choking. Nike dropped him like a hot potato (YEAH NIKE!), but the NFL is still holding out for the gambling aspect of the case to make a decision on whether he gets banned from professional football. Of course, there is also the 22 million in bonus money that the NFL is trying to get back from Mr. Scumbag which is part of why he hasn’t been booted just yet, but it’s no like the NFL couldn’t afford to make the statement via a big boot that they are against everything this man stands for.

Ok — off my soapbox….

Ken leaves Wednesday for Raleigh and 6 days of shows. I’m hoping he finishes Butterfly there. I also hope he gets more points on Tigger, but you never know how these things will go. I do know that he needs the rest and am hoping the 7 days off will provide him with that. Then, towards the end of the month will be my turn… I’ll take 5 days off starting the 19th.

Well, I suppose I should start working on something useful. Take care.

Love to all,

Margaret

Sorry for not writing these past couple of days.

Yesterday I met with the doctor who will do my colonscopy (now I’m in the same league as George W). He had a fit over my bloodwork from last week and sent me to the lab to have it drawn again. Said the one value did not fit with all the others and appeared to be a lab error. We will see. They didn’t have the results when I called a bit ago and said it would probably be Monday.

We’ve had some thunder and lightning, but no real rain the past couple of days. We are so dry! Even a small storm would be appreciated by the grass, the bushes and us!

Nothing on tap for this weekend other than the lady who wants Bella is coming to meet her tomorrow. That just means I have to clean the kitchen, vacuum and clean the carpet tomorrow morning.

I’ve been asked to bring one of my dogs to some fund raiser by the Anderson County Animal shelter, but that’s only supposed to take 30 minutes, so I will do that. Charlotte and I will probably go to breakfast in the morning. We plan to go back to Grits and Groceries — YUM!!

Take care. Have a great weekend! Stay cool!

Love to all,

Margaret

Happy Monday! Hope everyone is doing well.

Ken took the day off today. He had two dentist’s appointments this morning and a doctor’s appointment this afternoon and then I sandwiched in an appointment for one of the dogs to go to the vet in between, so he will be running around all day :). His dentists’ appointments have gone fine — the tooth that needed the root canal done on it has now been filled and his remaining teeth cleaned. We’ll see what happens with the vet and the doctor later today.

Lee adopted Foxy, so we are one more dog down. I have a couple of people interested in Bella (the rescue Whippet) so I don’t expect her to be here much longer. I believe Eddie will be picking up his dogs within then next couple of weeks, so that will be two more gone. I think if we can get down by 4 or 5 more we’ll have a good number 😆 Do you think that will happen?? We’ll see.

Well, I heard from my boss regarding my petition for a raise……..drum roll……. I got it!! And it was a VERY nice one, too!  I’ve already contacted HR about increasing my 401K withdrawal, so that will not be missed at all.

Well, that’s got you caught up with me.

Love to all,

Margaret

Going to dash off a quick one before I leave for work.

Went to a new doctor yesterday. She is a young, pretty thing, but nice and seemed knowledgeable. Nothing untoward in her findings. Blood pressure was good (104/86), pulse was fine, etc. Going Saturday for bloodwork which I don’t look forward to. For one thing, I will have to wait until after it’s done to eat breakfast or have any coffee. Since the appt is at 9:30, that’s WAY too late for me 😆 She also made obilgatory appointments for a mammogram and a colonoscopy. Not two things I’m looking forward to AT ALL!

Well, it’s time to run.

Have a great day and stay cool and dry!

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning everyone! I hope your day is going well. Mine has mixed reviews.

I lost 65¢ in the vending machine this morning and someone turned off the eye under the coffee pot, so the coffee was getting cold when I went to get my second cup. 😥 So, my morning didn’t go as smoothly as I could have wished. Silver lining to these are — I didn’t need the pastry from the machine any way if my scale is to be believed and the second cup of coffee was my self-imposed daily limit anyway, so no harm no foul.

Still having issues with the new system, but hopefully those are getting worked out and the ones that impacted my immediate job are greatly reduced. We are targetting getting those last pesky items out of the way by the end of the week, and then hopefully we can concentrate on streamlining our jobs.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but the Microsoft Service Pack released last night seems to have speeded up my computer quite a bit. We’ll see if it remains that way 😆 Those things have a way of backfiring.

Not much else to talk about today. It’s supposed to be hot again — around 100ºF today. I know my airconditioner is not keeping up with that very well at all. I’m still dreading the power bill.

Talk to you later.

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning everyone! I hope this finds you all well and happy!

WFH today which is a good thing. I always get so much more accomplished without the distractions of the office around me. Not that there aren’t distractions here, too, but they are less attention grabbing than someone in the next cube talking about someone downstairs  I also hope to go to Grits N Groceries for lunch today and try out thier shrimp po’boy sandwich. I can’t do that from the office!

so far, I have nothing planned for the weekend, so suppose I need to get caught up on housework and correspondence. There is always club stuff to do and February will be here before you know it. That means the Health Clinic and dog show. I am thinking about organizing the clinic in a slightly different manner this time. I want to assign “jobs” to other club members so I don’t have to do it all by myself. I also have to write to all the vets and get their commitment and terms for this event. It will have to go in the premium list submission here soon.

I’m working on teaching Riley more phrases. He does phrases like “Good Morning”, “Hello”, “Good Boy”, “Skinny!”, and “Oy Chihuahua” pretty good and now I’m trying to teach him “mama mia! That’s-a spicy meatballs” and “I’m a hungry bird. May I have a peanut?”  — I know — I’m crazy , but you love me anyway. I don’t know if Taji will ever talk, but who knows – he just might start someday.

Well, I suppose I should get back to the grindstone. Ya’ll take care! Love ya!

Happy Monday the 13th 😆 I hope a Monday the 13th is luckier than Friday the 13th. To me, they are both just another day.

The weatherman says we are headed for 100ºF again today (yuck!). Yesterday was so pleasant! The high was 89º. The airconditioner got a much needed break from the 24/7 that it was running. I am dreading my power bill. By Wednesday, we’ll be back up to 103-104ºF — I am ready for the dog days of summer to be over. I don’t do extremes of temperature very well at all.

I met my friend for lunch yesterday as planned and picked up a rescue Whippet at the same time. Bella is a 4 year old spayed white with red brindle spots girl who is decidedly unhappy with her change of life circumstances. Thankfully, I have 2 applications on file looking for a female and have also had several more people telling me they have applications also for dogs, so I won’t be keeping her very long.

It seems everyone had a quiet weekend which was a welcome relief from the past couple of weeks. I’m waiting to see what my boss says about the 26 hours overtime for this pay period :). I think he will be fine with it. He knows I worked it.

That’s about all of my stuff for now. Take care!

Love to all,

Margaret
