Daily Notes 10-09-2006

I feel like I’ve entered a time-warp. North Korea has tested a nuclear weapon. This is the kind of nightmare we lived in while I was growing up in the 60’s and it’s no picnic having that kind of threat hanging over your head. We’ve gotten past the point of thinking that hiding under our desks will protect us from any kind of nuclear fall-out and most of our underground bunkers have been filled in or are so pathetic as to be no protection from such an event at all.

Kim Jong Il has proven to have an unstable personality and he rules his country with an iron fist. He has no regard for the international community and has already ignored their outcry against his earlier ICBM tests. I greatly fear that the US or others who fear him striking without warning will declare war on North Korea and that it will be a horrible thing for the world as I fear he will shoot his nuclear weapons indiscriminately towards any who anger him. I hope and pray that Mr. Bush employs his most patient and delicate of negotiators in this time of crisis.

I fear for my children and my grandchildren; for your children and your grandchildren. I pray for thier continued safety and good health.

Love to all,

Margaret

Considering the fact that his “ICBM” was a miserable failure, I’m not sweating this one yet.

Also, note that Kim Jong Il does not respond well to negotiations. The six nation talks failed. Clinton failed even when he tried bribing Kim with nuclear reactors! This guy is going to do what he wants so long as he can afford to feed his scientists (and not his people). His whole goal is to make the US look like fools and erode our power in the region. Something that China wouldn’t mind either. Nobody likes a superpower.

Don’t let this keep you up at night.

    Love,

    Eddie

If I was reading the news correctly the so-called test was under-ground’ Don’t know if that prooved anything or not.

While his test was a failure in our eyes, in his, it was a grand success and for all we know, it was planned to fall the way it did to lure us into a feeling of complacency (“oh those guys couldn’t even get their missiles off the launch pad!”). I don’t trust him to be what he shows us he is beyond that he is crazy as a loon. Yes, I’ve probably been reading WAY too many novels. While it’s not keeping me up at night, and I know there is NOTHING I personally can do about it, I still care and pray for a solution that does not involve loss of life or property.

I imagine you are as busy as a one-armed paperhanger right now with all the changes going on in the “where in the world is Carmen San Diego” game you play.

I need to ask you for prices on one of those rugs. What information do you need?

    Love,
