Daily Notes 10-06-2006
I’ve started reading some other blogs.
I’ve come to the conclusion that we’re all sufferring from some disorder, but I haven’t figured out exactly WHAT disorder. Just that all of us who blog on a regular basis have some kind of personality abberation.
For instance THIS (DON’T CLICK THIS IF YOU’RE EASILY OFFENDED) fellow is definitely one brick short of a load. What’s scary is that he’s in St. Louis — I know that’s a large city and chances are, he and Colin will never cross paths, but then again….Colin — if you get a chance to photograph this dog, I want the unretouched REAL picture đ
And then, there’s THIS guy who is obviously very confused about which political party he does/should belong to, but with whom IÂ so easily identify!
On the home front….
I had to take Nyssa to the vet today — she turns 12 in a few days and for the last couple has spent her time lying under the coffee table shivering. I thought there was something really badly wrong with her. Vet didn’t find anything except a rather full anal gland which he expressed and said could have caused her some degree of discomfort to the extent that she exhibited this behavior. He also gave her some pain medication just in case that wasn’t the root cause and told me to bring her back if she continued to act this way. By the time we got home, she was not shivering any more, and was giving me these reproachful looks as if to say “Mom — you know how to do that yourself. Why did you have to take me to that place for some stranger to accost my beautiful body like that?”
You just have to live with Nyssa to know that she REALLY thinks this way. She has these huge, round black eyes that can pierce your soul and she makes her mouth go a certain way that leaves no doubt in your mind that you’ve fallen short of her expectations.
See — I TOLD you — all us bloggers are loco!

That guy really got a lot of comments. I didn’t even read all of them.
I liked the picture Judy sent of her cat better, and also the pictures of Eddies sunset mean’t more than the dogs hind end.
I saw a bit of myself in Ron’s blog – where I lean conservative, he leans liberal. We’ve both got a strong libertarian streak. Yes – bloggers are strange because they throw their lives and opinions out there for whole world to see AND comment on. That’s pretty scary. It’s also pretty funny for the rest of some times. I saw an article on Gizmodo a few months back where a guy had requested that they basically write an article on HD TV’s for him – for free. They ridiculed him and posted his blog address so that Gizmodo readers could ridicule him in person. I stumbled onto after the guy had cleared all of the Gizmodo comments and the egotistical attempt at saving face that he posted after the incident only confirmed that they were right.
The other guy spends too much time looking at dog’s asses. Although, the comments from his atheist readers confirmed my own theory that atheists are practicing their own religion – the invective they used was similar to that used by Christians to describe Muslims, Muslims to describe Jews, etc.
Personally, I’ll stick to Pascal’s theory – If there is no afterlife, then believing in God costs me nothing. If there is an afterlife, not believing in God will cost me everything.
Take care – I’m enjoying an extra day off for Columbus day. I hiked six miles yesterday and I’ll probably do it again this afternoon. It may not be as pretty as the Colin’s part of the Ozarks, but it’s a good walk.
