Good morning! Working from home today as we have the last GKC meeting of the year tonight. I don’t think there’s anything of great note going on, but I suppose I should show up for the last meeting of the year.

My boss is on vacation this week, so there’s not much going on for me at work. Just routine stuff for the most part. He did leave one report he wanted me to do, which I did yesterday after some initial digging to find the field the stupid note was in. This database leaves a LOT to be desired in the way of naming conventions goes. It’s really difficult to figure out where some of these odd ball notes go. I’m just glad I have a bit of code that can scan the database for specific words in columns. Although it takes awhile to scan through one the size of this one, it sure saves on a lot of time!

That’s about all there is to say this morning. I hope you have a great day! Our weather sure is going to be pretty for mid-November. I will enjoy looking out my window as I work today.

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning and Happy Monday!

Got back from Concord around 1:30 pm yesterday and immediately started cleaning kennels, pens and so forth. Ken pulled in about an hour later with the camper and by then I was pretty much done. I fed the dogs (they enjoyed an early dinner), went to the Mexican restaurant for our dinner and we ate and went to bed early as we were both tired.

Did nothing at the dog show worth mentioning. I slept a lot so that was nice getting all that rest. Read several books since I couldn’t get the tv to work properly. It was chilly in the morning, but by afternoon was nice. Tigger and Butterfly played in the camper quite a bit. I did finally find some food that Tigger would eat although it’s a bit smelly since it has fish in it. That’s probably what attracts him, though. Fought ladybugs all weekend long. The warmer temps have encouraged them to hatch out. While they don’t hurt anything, they are pesky to have flying around everywhere.

One of the books I read this weekend was one Mom got from the library sale. It was titled “The President’s Plane is Missing” and while it was a good enough read, what was most interesting were the notes someone had written in the margins. The author was trying to write a futuristic rendition of a scenario around China’s one-time threat to the US and Russia with nuclear weapons tied in with a crash of Air Force One. He had made up a president and vice president and the last real ones mentioned were JFK and Truman. His estimates of spending on military, satellites and so forth were way off (super under) and the unknown critic had pencilled in corrections to those figures along with some other commentary on other facts presented in the book. I had to laugh every time I saw one as the first thing that came to mind was “Eddie would do this. I wonder if he ever checked this book out?” — which of course he hadn’t. I may send it to him though as the figures need updating and I’m sure he has them at his fingertips 😛

We’re heading to Ohio Friday to see Chris, Gina and the kids. Our plans are to take the kids shopping for winter clothes Saturday and we’ll head back home later that afternoon. I’ll let you all know how things come out.

Well, there’s lots to catch up on so I had best go.

Take care!

Love to all,

Margaret

Well, this will be my last post this week as tomorrow we head to Concord, NC for a dog show. This will be Butterfly’s last show of the year as I will not enter her in Winston-Salem which is our last planned show. It usually draws major entries and since she doesn’t need a major number of points, it just doesn’t seem fair to potentially take away a major from a dog that needs one. Tigger will be entered and probably Payne.

I’m going to get to see Zoomer’s babies this weekend as Diana is going to bring them to the show. The photos she’s sent me indicate they are darling! I can’t wait to get my hands on them 🙂

I have a home for one of the crested puppies — the little hairless one. One of the vet techs wants him and I know it will be a great home. One of the other techs thinks she knows someone who might want Cameo (the mother) and that sounds like a wonderful home, so I’m going to keep my fingers crossed.

We’re having our company’s Thanksgiving dinner here today. I made a sweet potato casserole (almost forgot it, but remembered before I got out of the driveway thank goodness! :!:). It looks like we’re going to have lots of goodies to eat and I will more than likely eat too much and feel loggy all afternoon.

We got a tiny bit of rain last night! We could use a lot more, but will not complain over any little bit. It got so warm yesterday that the ladybugs hatched out! I had a gazillion of them flying around my windows yesterday. I also noticed some buds on my azaleas, but I’m hoping those don’t flower prematurely. It’s supposed to get cooler again by tomorrow and not get all that warm today if I remember the weather report accurately enough.

Got to run!

Love to all,
Margaret

Good morning everyone! I hope you’re all feeling well!

I got my new book yesterday – The PHP Anthology. Now I get to learn something way new to me, but that’s what powers this blog. I’m kind of excited about it.

Maggie came through her surgery just fine. I stopped by the vet’s office last night and checked on her. She was still a little woozy, but didn’t appear to be in any pain — I think they were keeping her doped just for that reason. Anyway, she’ll come home today and be pampered for a few days. Butterfly will not be allowed to play with her and they will both be put out about that as they DO love to roughhouse.

Well, it’s getting late and I have lots to do today. So, I guess I had best get logged into work!

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning! I hope you had a good weekend! Our weather was lovely for most of the weekend although rain never materialized on Saturday as the weatherperson semi-promised. We are still dry as a bone. The leaves are finally changing — they are lovely and my hands itched for my camera (which of course I didn’t have). 😥

Maggie gets spayed today and goes to her new home on the 23rd. Pearl went back to her breeder yesterday and Ken thinks he has a home for Bunny and 2 of the puppies. The puppies are growing — eyes are open and they are starting to try to get up on their feet and move around some. They are really pretty, but I’m not even going to try to get them registered as I don’t want to be tempted to keep any of them.

Well, I guess I should get on with my day. Still trying to figure out what currency ID has to do with my processes failing….

Love to all,

Margaret

New floorSunday started out with the Cresteds whinging that they needed to go out at 2:00 am. I tried…I really TRIED to ignore them, but 15 minutes was long enough, so I got out of bed and let them out. All but Kabuki obligingly peed and wanted straight back into their warm crates. He, on the other hand, with typical Crested puppy abandon left on a quest. I don’t know where he went — it wasn’t to check out the deer grazing on the lawn as they only looked up long enough to determine there was no threat before returning to whatever feast they found in the middle of my yard. So I called and searched and rummaged under things and called and whistled for nearly an hour. Then I got the bright idea to bring Payne out. She wasn’t one of the previous group as she’s a good girl who sleeps through the night, but hearing me calling and whistling had her up and curious as to what was going on, so I took her outside, she trotted ’round for a few seconds before squatting to go and in mid squat, here comes the missing Kabuki. With everyone safely returned to their nest, I could climb back into mine and resume my interrupted slumber.

My next awakening was at 8:45 to Payne pouncing on my head. Ken had let her out to wake me up undoubtedly because he was ready for breakfast. 30 minutes later, we were on the road to Anderson to our favorite breakfast stop — the Golden Corral. When we finished there, we went over to Sam’s club to check out their bargains and I found a monitor that I could afford, so we bought it along with a new wireless keyboard and mouse for Ken. Now everything is installed and working nicely, I have a load of laundry going, a dishwasher load going and Ken is loading up the garbage to take to the trash bin. Once he’s done with that, he’s informed me that he’s parking in front of the t.v. for the rest of the afternoon.

That’s fine with me — then I won’t feel guilty for playing on the computer 🙂

Oh — the photo shows you the new floor — I think it’s gorgeous!

Well, the dryer is calling, so I will heed it’s call.

Well, the job is done! It took about 5 hours from start to finish (well, I’ll admit there is still some stuff to do, but it’s just putting knick knacks and stuff back out). The floor looks great and there wasn’t as much dust as Eddie worried about.

The two girls who came to help were great and did the lion’s share of the work. Of course, I’m stll worn out, but have tomorrow to rest up and I will do just that.

I’m so glad it’s done!

Love to all,

Margaret

Good morning!

I went last night and picked up the tile for the floor. It’s a good thing I did since they only had enough left to do my project with. I had a delightful young man help me with it — he measured it off the roll, wrapped it in shrink wrap, took it out to the truck and loaded it, then tied it down complete with red flag. It was quite refreshing to be helped by someone so knowledgeable, courteous and kind. He told me he had risen to his current position pretty quickly and I can certainly understand why if he approaches everything in life the way he did helping me with my issue. I foresee a bright future for this young man. If he goes into politics, I would vote for him, but he says he wants to go to California to become an animator.  — Well, I guess that still wouldn’t preclude him going into politics 😆

Anyway, my big project starts early in the morning with removing all the small objects from the room so that when the two young ladies who are going to help me move furniture come around 10, only those large pieces will remain. I’m hoping I can also get them to help me manipulate the roll of flooring as it’s quite heavy! Of course, I won’t get to that right away as I have to pull up the old carpeting and get that out of the house, then vaccuum the floor before putting down the double sided tape that holds the flooring down.

I love the texture of this floor –it’s not slick at all and looks a lot like quarried rock. I will also probably rearrange furniture when I put the room back together again — I mean, why miss out on a good opportunity? I probably should spend a little time drawing out where to place the furniture before someone actually moves it back into the room. It just wouldn’t do to turn this into a Lucille Ball comedy routine no matter that Ken sometimes accuses me of being dingy.

Oh – -if you feel like getting some new words for your vocabulary today, go read my newest poem and then see if you can figure out what all the words mean — nevermind figuring out what the POEM means 😛

Well, let me see what work is going to bring today.

Love to all,

Margaret

Morning everyone! I hope your morning is going well. Mine has been fraught with frustrations, but there you have it..not every day can be smooth sailing.

I wanted to get Maggie spayed tomorrow, but the vet’s office is booked up. Guess it will have to be done on Monday. Bummer!

I’m picking up the flooring tonight on my way home from work. We will have tile down by Sunday (HOORAY!)

Got to run.

Love to all,

Margaret

Morning all! We are chilly this morning! Highs are supposed to be in the 50’s today and back down in the 30’s tonight — feels more like November for sure!

Had an interesting meeting last night on Report Manager. Don’t know if I will release that to my users as no one is really a “power user” other than maybe Wes. I would have to do quite a bit of set up behind the scenes in order to get it dummy-proof and there may come a time when time to do that is available. Meanwhile, today I will be on a quest to discover what currency functions do in Great Plains and why, when we set one up it blows up our whole world.

So, I’m off to Google and to Dynamics forums. Wish me luck!

Love to all,

Margaret
