We are rapidly approaching the 6th anniversary of 9/11. Of course that’s all in the news and you all know about it. Osama is purported to be relasing a new video commemorating the event and the media is preparing to give him his next 15 minutes of fame. I wonder, though, if we ignored his diatribes, didn’t report on his new video and gave him no notice at all, if we would see one next year. From what I’ve learned of operant conditioning (this is the method I use to train the dogs and the birds),Β when you ignore unwanted behavior, it will spike and then go away. So, by that “rule”, if we ignored this video, we would probably see other attention-grabbing behavior, but if that was also ignored, they would just go away. The main obstacle to this is those in the media who believe they HAVE to report on such….

I also heard (I think) that someone wants to make a memorial out of the building in which the guy who went on the rampage at Virginia Tech killed the most of his victims. I think this is wrong. Yes, there should be a memorial to those students, however, it should NOT be that building. Reason being, by using that building, everyting associated with it is now reduced to that single tragic event. All the good things that happened to all the people before and after that event will be reduced to footnotes which is very wrong as there were and will be undoubtedly many MORE wonderful, good (and bad) things that happen in that building than the single event of 32 people being killed. Why give this event – as tragic as it was – such power over us?

Well, I guess I need to get off my soapbox and get back to work.

Ya’ll have a wonderful day!

Love to all,

Margaret

Happy Thursday everyone! We are in for another HOT day today….the mornings start out nice enough in the mid 60’s, but by 10:00 am, we’re in the high 90’s and no rain in sight. I heard on the news last night where a town in the upstate has had all it’s wells run dry and the entire community is having to truck in water. I’m hoping and praying that our well does not run dry as the last thing I want to do is go on city water. I’ve gotten too spoiled by our clean, fresh, sweet water.

The doctor’s office finally called me back yesterday with my lab results. I’m 100% normal on everything. Mammogram came back normal, the glucose tolerance test came back normal and the retest on the T13 came back also within normal ranges, so once the colonoscopy is done, I’ll be finished with doctors for awhile (thank goodness!).

Too bad none of this was psych tests — guess I’m still abnormal there πŸ˜†

Nothing in the plans for this weekend. Although Ken hasn’t said so one way or the other, I’m assuming he’s working this weekend, so that leaves me clear to do what I please πŸ˜› Of course, I’ll probably do all the boring stuff (housework, laundry, dog grooming).

That’s it for me today. Y’all take care!

Love to all,

Margaret

Hello everyone! Hope your week has been a good one so far and that you had a great Labor Day weekend!

Ken got home Monday from Raleigh around 10:00pm. He floated home as his Whippet, Tigger took Best of Breed over two specials (dogs who have already attained their championship). He did go to the group, but didn’t do anything there although he said the judge tried and tried to give Tigger something. Next show is the Southern specialty in Atlanta the 20th-23rd of this month. I’ll be going to that show by myself, leaving Ken at home to hold down the fort.

Ken has his colonoscopy on the 13th and I have mine on the 28th. I don’t think either of us are looking forward to it, but guess we can’t get out of it πŸ™

Went Saturday for a glucose tolerance test — spent 3 hours and now look like a junkie with all the needle tracks in my arm :P, but I don’t think I’m diabetic (or at least not yet). Called yesterday to see if there were any lab results, but did not get anything back from them yet. I’ll have to call again today, I guess.

I guess that catches you all up on us. Have a great day!

Love to all,

Margaret
